CMAP Main Meeting - The Keys To Building Mobile First Web Apps - Chris Love
Tuesday, August 07, 2012 6:30 PM, Columbia, MD
View CMAP Main Meeting - The Keys To Building Mobile First Web Apps - Chris Love on Bing Maps Topic: The Keys To Building Mobile First Web Apps

The rapid adoption of mobile technologies is exciting for consumers and businesses and provides a multitude of new challenges for both IT and Developers to adopt to the new platforms and user expectations. Leveraging HTML5, newer client side architectures and natural inputs provides challenges to developers that have to this point not had to consider new technologies when designing client technologies. This session explores how developers can take advantage of the newest HTML5, CSS3 and AJAX techniques to build rich user experiences that can be applied across all platforms including iOS, Android and the upcoming Windows 8. You will learn how to build modern single page web apps, native like design elements and how to leverage touch while focusing on a mobile first approach.

Presenter: Chris Love

Chris has nearly 20 years, yes that's right, of web development experience. He has built a wide variety of web sites and applications in those years. In the past couple of years he has begun to immerse himself in the mobile web application space. This is giving him some amazing experiences using cloud technologies, HTML5 and all the major mobile platforms. Currently he is focusing on solving the problems many enterprises are having adopting a winning mobility strategy as Tellago's Chief Mobility Officer. He has authored 2 books, working a new Mobile Web App book and is a 5 time ASP.NET MVP. Chris regularly speaks at user groups, code camps and other developer events.

Getting Started with SignalR
Thursday, August 16, 2012 6:00 PM, Charlottesville, VA
View Getting Started with SignalR on Bing Maps SignalR is an asynchronous signaling library for ASP.NET. It's designed to help you build real-time web applications without a lot of hassle. In the past, developers would have to wire up "real-time" applications as a series of polls to a webserver, waiting for it to receive data back that was useful. This approach usually cost more in bandwidth than we wanted it to. SignalR simplifies this process, and makes it more useful for the ASP.NET developer. As platforms improve, SignalR can also seamlessly transition over to Websocket. In this presentation, Kevin Griffin will guide you through implementing SignalR into your applications, and how you can take advantage of everything it has to offer.
