10 Years…and I Missed It!

So, I was doing some research trying to figure out which blogs have implemented the gadget I put together for my Community Megaphone website, so that when I have the time to rearchitect the gadget (hopefully soon, as it could definitely use a refresh), I can notify the site owners of the updated version. Anyway, as part of that process, I ran across my pre-Microsoft blog, over on weblogs.asp.net, and it turns out that I’ve been blogging for over 10 years…wow!

The bummer is, I completely missed my 10 year anniversary of blogging. So I’ll celebrate it belatedly today!

My first blog post ever was on February 22nd, 2003:

So many things have changed in that 10 years. My first child was born less than two months later, and another in 2008. At the time I started blogging, I was still actively writing books, but eventually moved away from that (perhaps in part because blogging let me scratch the writing itch without the pain of the book writing process). I joined Microsoft as a Developer Evangelist (now Technical Evangelist) about a year and a half later.

One thing that hasn’t changed is having my wife’s support and love, which is absolutely one of the most important things in my life.

I am so blessed to have my family, and all the career opportunities I’ve had, not to mention the great people I’ve encountered in both the local and national .NET communities.

I am thankful for each and every person who’s taken the time to read something I’ve posted, and I’m looking forward to the next 10 years of blogging, wherever they may lead.

    1. Crazy, isn’t it? I’m on blog number 3 so far (speaking only of my technical blogging, that is), and both 1 and 2 are still up. Winning!
